About Rüssli Architekten AG

Philosophy

Rüssli Architekten AG is a successful firm of architects based in Lucerne. The Team, currently consisting of 22 employees, develops and plans demanding construction projects for public and private customers in Switzerland and abroad. The company has received numerous awards for competent and innovative building. In addition to new constructions for residential and commercial buildings, the team of architects produces plans and studies for individual plots of land and designs for entire urban development complexes. The company also specialises in high-quality rebuilding and renovation in the context of the preservation of historic buildings and monuments. Participation in public competitions and studies is an essential part of the professional activities of Rüssli Architekten AG.

The “Lakefront Center Luzern”, which was completed in 2006, with the international SAS Radisson Hotel as its main tenant, and the new Swiss Embassy in Washington D.C. represent milestones in the office’s existence. Varied and complex plans are currently being worked upon for rebuilding projects and for new buildings from private and public customers in Switzerland and abroad.

The company was founded in 1964 by Walter Rüssli. In 1996, after many years of activity in the USA, Justin Rüssli joined the company as a partner. Since the beginning of 2002, two more partners have been participating in Rüssli Architekten AG and its long-term development: the long-serving colleagues Hubert Bühlmann and Rudolf Vollenweider. In 2004 Justin Rüssli took over the business management with the two partners. Since 2005, there has been another partner in the team: Peter Steinmann.

Rüssli Architekten AG maintains a cooperative partnership with the internationally renowned firm of Steven Holl Architects in New York. As well as joint competition projects, the implementation of projects, especially in Europe, is being substantially expanded.
