Profile

Style

French interior designer and artist, Julie Gauthron plays with contrasts to create harmonious interiors with a singular identity. Inspired by the challenge of giving each of her projects character and coherence.

A short history of her agency, Exquise Esquisse

In 2012, Christophe Sauvage, head of Elegancia Hotels, gave Julie ‘carte blanche’ to design the Hotel Crayon (previously known as the Louvre Forum Hotel). Julie reinvented the Crayon with the youthful feel of an artists’ retreat. Residents being free to express their creativity with a stroke of a pen on the doors or walls of their room. After the Crayon’s success, in 2014 Julie continued the Elegancia collaboration with the Crayon’s sister hotel, the Crayon Rouge. Shortly followed by the Idol Hotel, the Hotel Exquis and most recently the Grand Hôtel du Midi.

Training

Julie graduated from the prestigious Olivier de Serres art school in Paris in 1995. Her experience as a set designer, graphic and product designer gave her the professional and creative know-how to found her own agency, Exquise Exquisse, in 2006. Today, Julie works across product design, brand identity and interior design for stores & hotels.
