Platz Spezialglas GmbH is active in three different product segments: powerglass® (LED in glass), display glass (anti-reflective, EMI-shielding and heatable front glasses for displays) and operator glass® (touch screens made of glass).

In 1998 the powerglass® technology was patented. This technology allowed for the first time to laminate LED in glass without any visible wiring. The LED are embedded in a transparent resin laminate and protected from environmental influences, seemingly floating inside the glass. With powerglass®, a passive sheet of glass can be turned into an active design element with integrated light points.

In the meantime, powerglass® has developed into the main product line. Architects and designers all over the world are using the technology for stunning projects, including glass balustrading at Dubai Airport Terminal 3 or media façade panels in interactive bus shelters in Seoul.

The latest product are powerglass® (RGB) media façades which combine the building skin with LED communication technology. This is the future of powerglass®: communicate in glass!
