The 238 product family by Delta Design, produced from 1976 to 1985, was ahead of its time. Shoulder supports, wing-type armrests, a seat shell in polypropylene and an ingenious mechanism ensured that the 238/7 model turned quite a few heads. It also complied to a large extent with occupational therapy knowledge and therefore became known as the “DIN chair” (German industrial standard). Although excellent ergonomics and futuristic design resulted in relatively low production figures for the 238/7 model, it did have an impressive showing in the James Bond “Moonraker” film.
