Catalogue essay:
"The development of chair_ONE has been amongst the most exciting projects in my career. Eugenio Perazza, founder of Magis, invited me to work on a chair in die-cast aluminium he was offering me a unique opportunity. Magis entrusted me with the design of a truly industrial chair. Looking back, I think my approach was a mixture of naivety and bluntness. Given the chance to work with aluminium casting I thought I should take it all the way. Industry has used this material mainly for making structural components for furniture. I decided that the whole chair, or rather a major part of it, should be cast in all one piece. The result is like a large basket, the seat shell, which is mounted on four extruded legs or other types of supports. The lattice of aluminium branches not only performs as the structure of the chair, it also achieves a surprisingly high level of comfort." (Böhm, KGDI, Konstantin Grcic, Industrial Design, p. 198)
