Milan is a city of low chromatic impact. Its range of colours often fades into a grey scale, marking it as a place of maturity. As soon as youth culture and underground spirit raise their heads, they get drawn back into an adult approach to problems. Milan has a tradition of industrious pursuit of beauty, perhaps because it is intrinsically lacking in that virtue, or in any case is never brash in any of its expressions. Milan is small in contrast to the impact it generates, and its survival depends on this fluid circulation of energy. The new Meltin’ Pot space is on two levels. Its language is that of a subway station, because its intent is to become an exchange point for flows in the city. The grey of the liberated structures dissolves in the metal that covers the surfaces to fasten them.
