Rio

Rio is a neat, stackable chair designed by Gunilla Allard inspired by her many journeys. The silhouette is sharp, simplicity and comfort key words. The challenge has been to add an expression of our time in the endless history of sitting.

Travelling between different destinations and cultures, i have worked with the precise expression of the curves. i have been inspired by influences from both Japan and denmark – Some details from Asahikawa in Japan, some from copenhagen. the name rio is a greeting to yet another continent, South America, which may be the destination of my next trip? says designer gunilla Allard.

The chair rio comes in moulded shell, in natural or black stained ash. The back is slightly thinner than the seat, creating a perfect blend of flexibility and strength. The seat works together with a thin sled base in stainless or powder coated solid steel. The thin frame allows high-density stacking of the chair. Rio comes with or without arms. Rio also comes in a fully-upholstered version with a zip in the back, providing a delicate detail.

Frame of Ø11 mm powder coated or stainless solid steel. Glides. Molded seat shell in natural or stained ash. High resilient polyurethane foam. Stacking protection and armrest of black plastic.
