The beautiful, natural grain pattern and sturdy dimensions are further enhanced by cracks that are inherent to the wood. Cyprus is naturally rot-resistant, containing a compound called cypressine that repels insects and decay organisms, making it an excellent choice for exterior-grade furniture. The wood is dried in a solar kiln, then artisans hand-cut, sand, and finish each piece. A clear oiled finish protects the natural grain.
