With the F500 series, Geoffrey D. Harcourt RDI introduced a new perspective on lounging in the 1960s: informal, intuitive, and attuned to the human body. The inspiration was simple yet meaningful: his girlfriend often sat cross-legged – a relaxed, feminine posture that inspired him to design an armchair that does not impose itself, but adapts.

The F500 embodies this approach. Its broad, inviting shell offers ample space for a variety of seating positions without compromising support or comfort. The sculptural form rests on a swivelling metal base, lending the design a light and modern character.

Within the F500 series, the F587 and F588 stand out with their button-tufted upholstery, where the buttons – especially in leather – form a refined and striking detail. This tufting adds a subtle elegance and lends the armchair a discreetly professional character, creating a pleasing contrast with the soft, welcoming contours. As with other variants in the F500 series, these models are available with either a high or low shell. The choice between a swivelling disc base or cross base allows the armchair to be tailored to a variety of interiors without compromising on comfort or character.

What began as a personal observation has grown into a globally beloved series of armchairs. Leather armchair

The F587 and F588 armchair has a special appearance due to its padded seat. The buttons are particularly attractive in leather. A swivel armchair to snuggle in and enjoy. Just like the other variants from the 500 series, this armchair has a high and low seat and you can choose between a trumpet or cross base or a swing frame. However, the latter can only be combined with the high seat.
