Konzept
The strength of this design lies in its simplicity. However, simple designs are often the hardest. Proportions and dimensions must match perfectly, as well as comfort. The secret of this chair’s seating comfort is the backrest of which the shape provides excellent support. Moreover the backrest is fitted with a specially designed spring system. You will never feel as if you have been sitting against a hard piece of wood, even after several hours of use. Fine, decorative double stitch seams gently accentuate the shape and finish of the chair. The solid oak legs can be stained in various colours or can be upholstered in the same fabric or leather as the other parts of the chair. Max is available as a chair with armrests as well as without. Only by the choice of colour and material of upholstery and legs can the look of Max totally be changed.

Wie perfekt er diese Kunst beherrscht, beweist eine Reihe von internationalen und nationalen Preisen, die er bereits in relativ jungen Jahren erhielt – etwa den Börsepreis für Design den IF-Product Design Award, zweimal den Red Dot Award oder die Selektion in »Die Auswahl« der 10 besten Möbel Österreichs. Kai Stania wurde 1965 in Salzburg geboren, schloss 1990 sein Architekturstudium an der Technischen Universität Wien mit Auszeichnung ab und studierte Produktgestaltung in der Meisterklasse von Ron Arad an der Hochschule für angewandte Kunst in Wien. Seit 1996 ist Stania maßgeblich am Design und der Entwicklung der meisten Serienprodukte der österreichischen Firma Bene beteiligt und entwarf bereits zahlreiche Produkte für Wittmann, Jean-Louis Ferrer, Cerutti, Remus und Lanvin. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Architekt und Designer ist er auch als Vertragsassistent am Institut für Hochbau und Entwerfen an der TU Wien tätig.
