Ilmari Tapiovaara designed the Lukki family for the student dormitories of the Helsinki University of Technology in the 1950s.
Available in black, stone white, sage green.
Konzept
In the late 1940s, Ilmari Tapiovaara entered a competition to design furniture for the student housing complex at the Helsinki University of Technology. This marked the beginning of a long period during which Tapiovaara would explore combining tubular steel with wood and textiles. Tapiovaara entered the competition with his design for the Lukki Chair. Not only did it win, it went on to form the basis of the influential and highly popular Lukki series.
Replacing solid wood with tubular steel frames and plywood elements, Lukki brings together strength, durability, and versatility with a distinctive aesthetic.
