Don't be fooled by the French. (And I say this as an Englishman.) While the twice-yearly big-top design event that is Paris's Maison&Objet may, more than any other fair, offer an abundance of colour, texture and decoration, this is serious business. 

 This September's edition – beyond its special tours for architects and talks series by high-profile professionals for professionals of every profile – takes work as its central theme – or, rather, WORK! Visitors will be encouraged to consider the future of the workplace via products, conferences and curation. 

 And while you're in town, why not check out the 'Architects' Furniture: 1960–2020' exhibition at the Cité de l'architecture? On ne sait jamais!

Architektur der Stille

sshhhh. 

Nein, wir sind nicht unhöflich. Das ist der Name einer Akustikprodukt-Kollektion der finnischen Marke EvavaaraDesign, die entwickelt wurde, um das Wohlbefinden am Arbeitsplatz und in Studienräumen zu verbessern. 
 
Das 1985 vom gleichnamigen Designer Antti Evävaara gegründete Unternehmen hat sich als Scandi-Hersteller eine Nische geschaffen, die sich auf die Produktion von eigenständigen, akustisch aktiven, miniarchitektonischen Umgebungen spezialisiert hat. Ob die sshhh 1 Telefonstelle, der sshhh 2 Meetingraum für zwei Personen oder das sshhh 5 ‘soundcenter’, jedes Produkt zeichnet sich durch optimierten Schallschutz, architektonische Linienführung und hochwertige Stoffpolster aus. Was ist Finnisch für ahhhh?
