Out in the open and on the table: Indonesia-based brand Karpenter's environmental credentials are underscored by its brand slogan – 'Designed by us, defined by nature'

Karpenter's founders, Hugues and Sita Revuelta, understand the value of good design that lets good materials sing. FSC reclaimed teak, American Black Walnut and European White Oak are the three solid woods to which they continually return

Eclectic certainly isn't a misplaced term when it comes to describing Karpenter's design aesthetic, which embraces a range of influences, from Japanese reduction to warm Scandinavian modernism

Karpenter principal and design director Hugues Revuelta: "A lot of people know just how skillful Indonesian craftspeople can be. But we actually source our talent from all over the world. Not just Indonesia"

Karpenter, founded in 2009, was one of the first companies in Indonesia to work with FSC materials and to be certified FSC 100% recycled. It is also committed to using environmentally lower-impact finishes and has also reached zero-waste production

In addition to furniture products for the living room and bedroom, Karpenter uses the warmth of quality solid wood to help lend bathrooms a spa-like feel

"We’re extremely versatile," explains Karpenter principal and design director Hugues Revuelta. "While our principles of design, craftsmanship and the environment are solid, we’re agile when it comes to exploring design and new products"
