Artemide’s Tolomeo lamp celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year. Designed by Italian maestro Michele de Lucchi, the lamp is an icon of 1980’s design

The popularity of Tolomeo has led Artemide to develop several variations, including a range of anodised-aluminium colour options and a metallic gold finish

The Tolomeo family ranges in size from the diminutive Tolomeo Micro, to the XXL model, which is four-times large than the original table lamp and can be used indoors or outdoors

The lamp’s versatility is enhanced by dedicated wall-mounted variations and a model with a steel pincer-clip for attaching to shelves or other surfaces

The Tolomeo Mega Terra makes a bold statement in any interior. As with the rest of the family, the two-armed suspension version allows the light to be directed easily

Michele de Lucchi and Artemide spent several years trying to develop a mechanism for Tolomeo that is perfect, in both engineering and aesthetic terms
