Aare

Inspired by the Aare gorge, an indirect natural by-product of glaciation. As the glaciers melted, torrential runoff water eroded deep, narrow chasms. A phenomenon which created narrow slits of light surrounded by tactile undulating textures.

De Castelli‘s hand erosion techniques, born from the company’s ongoing research and study on materials, encapsulate this natural beauty, recreating the textures of eroded stone on brass surfaces. Like the Aare gorge, these sconces emanate a grand presence and a sense of stoic beauty, as though they were hand crafted decades ago.
