X2 by Zoom by Mobimex

X2 is the latest collection from Zoom by Mobimex. Once again, it reveals the distinctive style of Italian architect and designer Dante Bonuccelli.
Wood, the first material used for man-made structures, is as totally modern today as it has always been. Its outstanding strength characteristics and its convincing durability constantly inspire architects and designers afresh. Wood conveys a sense of comfort and familiarity. Even the earliest civilisations crafted tools and utensils from wood; our everyday lives would not be the same without it. Features of these historic articles have inspired the X2 collection: the handle of a tool with its ergonomic efficiency and strength, the peg box of a guitar with its combination of beauty and function, or a knife in which the blade and the wooden handle together yield the desired result.

The fascination and affection we feel even for such everyday articles is explained by their shape and style, high standard of craftsmanship, brilliant combinations of materials and ingenious joining techniques. We grow accustomed to them in daily use, we appreciate their value and the longer we use them, the more reluctant we are to do without them. The same mind-set gives the X2 furniture collection its strength. Lathe-turned arms extend outwards to support the table top and are linked by precision cast-steel nodal joints: the result is an item of furniture convincing in its grace and simplicity.

Dante Bonuccelli lives and works in Milan. With his ‘Avenue Architects’ team he plans and implements building, interior and design projects in Europe, America and Asia.
