Tudor Chair
The inspiration for this series of six dining chairs came from the six wives of Henry VIII. The chairs, like the wives, are all formally linked but each has its own individual, r ecognisable personality — in this case expressed through variations of upholstery and finishing. The designs are a clever reference to a rich part of British history as perceived by the Spanish designer Jaime Hayon. The fame of the story of Henry VIII and the associations of opulence, culture and iconic visual references each played a part in influencing Hayon’s interpretation. The story of the Tudor Chair is a British one for a British company.

Tudor Cabinet
Spanish designer Jaime Hayon has extended his collection of Tudor designs to include this tall occasional cabinet. The Tudor period and its associations with culture, opulence and bold visual iconography first impressed Hayon after his move to London. This inspiration led him to create a series of objects that were; ‘In a way a little heavy, a little medieval, with contrasts and good materials.’ Bold, geometric shapes, reminiscent of Tudor iconography, are a key feature of the cabinet that is a typically creative design from Hayon. The cabinet is constructed from wood with inserts of coloured, bevelled glass in its doors.
