Tribeca by DEDON

TRIBECA promises to be another instant classic from Richard Frinier, the renowned American outdoor furniture designer who has already created such timeless and acclaimed DEDON collections as ORBIT, DAYDREAM, BARCELONA, PANAMA and SPA. Taking its name and inspiration from one of Manhattan’s most renowned neighborhoods, that triangle on the Lower West Side below Canal Street, the TRIBECA collection was a solid two and a half years in development. It has been defined as a ‘dynamic, lively and athletic interaction between triangles, ever widening and thinning lines, angled edges and round, curved or elliptic shapes, which play on simultaneously evoking and toning down, in a modern context, the Danish Modernist style’.

In a nutshell, Tribeca reflects a radically new approach to furniture design and construction. The range is set on sturdy and ultra-light hydro-formed metal legs that very much resemble the dynamic metal forms found in cars and racing bicycles. It evolved from specialized research and led to the perfecting of a new type of interweaving, which, when performed by hand, may be applied all over the surface of the furniture — decorating whole structures and even cushions with the same design pattern. The research carried out also led to the creation of a remote controlled chaise lounge that may be set to an infinite variety of inclinations.

Sophisticated and elegant yet accessible and extraordinarily comfortable, TRIBECA exudes a warm, modern and urban allure. Its presence is accentuated by the brown tones that lend color to the interwoven upholstery, giving DEDON ’s classic fiber the appearance of natural leather. The effect is further enhanced through a treatment applied to the metal parts of the structure, which serves to darken them just enough to bring to mind the walnut wood so typical of Danish modern furniture.
