Sprue Candelabra 1

Candlesticks / Candleholder from Fort Standard, Designed by Gregory Buntain, Ian Collings

Product description

Concept

‘Sprue’ refers to the structure added to a form being cast; which delivers and directs the flow of molten metal in the lost-wax casting process. To explore the idea of these simple structures they instead used the sprue wax to create forms themselves as functional Bronze sculptures. Striping the idea of casting down to a primitive level there remains a strong connection to the materiality of the wax as abuilding material and the rough look and feel of a casting as it comes right out of the mold.
