Design becomes the soul of handicraft for a new Italian Renaissance
Globalisation is gradually unifying and standardising products.
This context is making the wisdom of Italian handicraft suffer: since they are unappreciated in a globalised world, thousands of small handicraft companies are obliged to close down and thus also miss the possibility of transmitting their know-how to future generations.
With SineTempore, Valcucine combines Italy's great handicraft expertise with refined design, involving the work of small craftsman workshops all over the world in the desire of a new Italian Renaissance.
We have brought back techniques such as carving, inlaying, bush-hammering and mosaic work that create a bond of affection with the customised object, guaranteeing lasting appreciation of its aesthetics that, in turn, results in increased eco-sustainability.
Bush-hammering is a surface treatment for stone objects that creates a slightly corrugated surface, setting off its texture and emphasising the carved decor.
Carving is an artistic technique by which recessed or raised decors are made on wooden surfaces:
Inlay or wood inlay is a type of decoration that is achieved by putting together pieces of wood of various colours to create artistic designs.
A mosaic is a composition obtained by using fragments of materials (tesserae) of different types and colours (stone, glass, shells) processed by hand.
