This kitchen is characterised by a non-traditional structure, modules and materials.
All materials have been carefully selected, with few exceptions, and are highly eco-sustainable.
It consists of a tubular metal structure made of modules which, once matched, create a fully functional composition.
The structure is available in two different heights: suspended or floor-mounted for under-mounted appliances.
The doors have an aluminium frame and are decorated with various materials: PaperStone®, wood, lacquers.
The worktops can be in either ceramic, decorated lava or Lasermat available in various colours.
The project is enriched with a gutter-shaped element providing useful storage space for small accessories and with metal shelves with integrated LED lights.
A big stone sink (of exclusive design) completes the set together with solid wood peninsula tables which can be either fixed or slidable, for snack use.

Structure: 30x30 tubular metal, painted with matt black epoxy dusts – sides and internal shelves in metal sheet, same finishing.
Base units with hinged doors or pull-out drawers, internal drawers.
Nominal modules h.640+foot 260 / 900 or h.900+foot h.30 d.600 / 400 (open-faced modules).
Doors: frame in aluminium profile, matt black anodised finishing and 6 mm thick front panels in various finishings: PaperStone® (100% recyclable material) treated with natural oils; water-painted “olivato” ash wood; “Canaletto” walnut painted with oil effect; lacquered, concrete finishing with a weave design; lacquered with titanium/lead metal; metal with copper, brass, zinc or aluminium finishing.
Worktops: available in Dekton ceramic, 20 mm th., concrete grey or Ardesia black finishing; in Lasermat with a lasered edge available in 6 colours (Alaska white, Malè white, Luxor beige, Ottawa beaver, London grey, Ingo black); in Boffi standard stone, marble or granite ranges, th. 20 mm; in Nerosicilia: a decorated and glazed lava, with an exclusive design by Patricia Urquiola, anthracite grey or natural grey on grey or black background, th. 20 mm.
Peninsula tables in solid wood: water-painted “olivato” ash wood, or “Canaletto” walnut painted with oil effect.
Sink in natural stone, absolute black granite or Quartzite Silver.

“Salinas is the beach of my childhood, a long sandy beach with dunes along the Bay of Biscay, Asturias, with huge, crashing waves and intense colours. The kitchen in my grandfather’s house, which commanded a view of that very beach, brings back fond memories of those moments.
A place of contrasts, in “Green Northern Spain”, characterised by a rocky coastline, green fields, yellow sands and cobalt blue Ocean.
Salinas is based on an idea of a hidden “machine”, a technical kitchen with a modular structure in matt black metal and an integrated gutter-shaped element. The gutter-shaped element, not visible from outside, houses the plumbing, electrical and extractor plants.
It’s a very flexible system, on the framed doors light panels are inserted of various materials and colours: ranging from metal (zinc/brass/copper) to aluminium finishing, industrial glass, lacquers or textured concretes.
Worktops and elements are in matt ceramic, marble, stone, lava (decorated in relief). There is also a “chopping board-table” in solid wood, that slides to create more space for meal preparation, or can be also used as a snack top.
Surfaces that are tactile, material, true.
Salinas is flexible in its configurations which can be of a single material, a single colour or any combination of materials and colours in each element.
An open abacus in a closed system, where one immediately understands what can be done even before consulting a designer.
The search for materials will continue with further finishings around the future tall units.
Speed and lightness are other characteristics.
Rapid product configuration for the island or wall-mounted versions, with 40 possible modules. Rapid production of a customised but not tailor-made kitchen with speedy installation.
Lightness of doors and simple technology, for example: integrated LED lighting on the shelves and structures for hanging kitchen implements.
An open research that I hope will permit freedom to personalise; without the problems often encountered in “tailor-made” solutions.“ P. Urquiola
