Product description
An armchair reminiscent of a dancing dervish. Rumi was given its name because of its curves and flowing lines. The expanses of the side chair spread out, smiling and lightweight like the floating garments of the oriental dancers. Apparently floating over the delicate framework made of tubular steel. The link between tradition and modernity - as sought-after today as it was when Rumi made its début in 1961.
Walter K. meets modern Turkish design history
Art becomes design: a chair made of wide-meshed fishnet. Then a chair made of thin woven rope. Here an armchair reminiscent of a dancing dervish. With vital curiosity, special creativity and artistic impetus, Sadi Ozis designed the first modern furniture in Turkey in the 1950s. Sculptural and modern. Organic and functional. Elegant and sophisticated. Inspired by his art, reflecting the spirit of the times and the sense of modernity. Out of very little and unusual material, such as wire, tin and, as mentioned above, fishnet.
Today, more than 50 years later, the products are as modern as they were then: timeless icons of design. Walter K. is issuing the upholstered versions of these designs - further developed at the time by Sadi Ozis together with his son, Neptun Ozis - shaping common values and with the experience of excellent upholstery craftsmanship.
