Remix 2 by Kvadrat

Remix 2 is an elegant woollen upholstery textile created by acclaimed designer Giulio Ridolfo. A colour update of Remix, it comes in new seductive, subtle colours inspired by women’s couture, as well as tones from the original palette that capture a sense of men’s tailoring. Intriguingly, it appears unicoloured from a distance but reveals subtle details and colour contrasts, when seen from closer up.

Featuring a plain, tight and minimalistic weave, Remix is made from melange yarns, and, consequently, offers exceptional colour depth. These yarns comprise up to three colours and, as two differently coloured yarns are used to create every colourway, each combines up to six hues. This combination creates a lively play of irregular colours across the fabric.

The palette for Remix 2 includes 21 new colours, as well as the 28 shades from the original colour scale, which range from burnt reds and oranges to charcoal notes. The new colours inspired by women’s couture include subtle hues, such as wheat, dusty blue and white, and bolder tones, such as gold and pink. These shimmer and reveal subtle nuances as the light, or the perspective of the viewer, changes.

Many of Remix 2’s colourways complement those of Canvas, another fabric crafted by Giulio Ridolfo for Kvadrat. The textiles share key characteristics: they are made from wool, are material dyed and combine colours in a similar way. However, whilst the fabrics have important attributes in common, each has a very distinctive personality: Remix 2 features a tighter weave, and therefore it expresses colours in a more subtle and minimalistic way than Canvas.

Versatile Remix 2 is suitable for both contract and private use: it is very durable and, as a result, offers a long-life span. Furthermore, it is certified according to the EU Ecolabel, and has a high content of renewable fibres. Consequently, it is appropriate for those looking for a textile with a reduced environmental impact; for instance, architects or interior designers working with LEED certified buildings.

Since graduating as a Master of Fashion Design, from the Domus Academy in Milan in 1985, Giulio Ridolfo has amassed a wealth of experience as a textile and colour advisor to the clothing, footwear and interior design industries. He has collaborated with many of the world’s leading fashion and design brands, including: Tods and Hogan, Gianfranco Ferré, Moroso, Vitra, Fritz Hansen and Salone del Mobile. He has been working with Kvadrat since 2004.

Giulio Ridolfo’s methodology and colour compositions are far from traditional. He bases his work around the expression of an attitude or a choice. This results in the development of highly personal and distinctive colour palettes.
