Perla upholstery fabric

The simplest solution is often the most difficult one, so when you discover the simplicity of Perla, you are also discovering Frans Dijkmeijer’s great talent. For many years, the Dutch textile designer has hallmarked Kvadrat’s textile fabrics with his precision designs, and Perla is no exception.
He found the inspiration for this design in a classic combination: a string of alternating black-white-black-white beads. In the yarn that Dijkmeijer created for Perla, and which is in fact Perla, the white ply is wound around the black ply, giving Perla an extremely precise look, even though at first glance it may appear indistinct.
There are three variations of this upholstery fabric. The difference in the weaving method employed is reflected in the coarseness of the texture. In simple terms, the three versions are coarse, medium and fine. The fact that the fabric derives its relief and structure from the yarn is common to all three. The structure is somewhat reminiscent of tweed.
The colours are subdued because the emphasis is on colours that suit the item. They range from a very graphic black and white, to beige and violet blue, and red and olive turquoise.
Altogether, there are seven colour moods and 28 colours.
