“NewspaperWood is a new material based on a concept by Mieke Meijer, developed together with and licensed to the Dutch designlabel Vij5. NewspaperWood returns newspapers, which are made of wood, into wood again. When a NewspaperWood log is cut, the layers of paper appear like lines of a wood grain or the rings of a tree and therefore resembles the aesthetic of real wood.”
A series of small frames, to exhibit your finest, smallest or most exclusive objects. To symbolize the bark of a tree, Ontwerpduo covered the NewspaperWood with a thin layer of coloured paper. They intended to augment the NewspaperWood rather than to supplement it with an extra material. All employed paper colours are reflected in the growth rings of the Newspa- perWood itself.
The series of small cabinets consists out of six different variations and colours. On request these frames can be ordered in different sizes and colour combinations.
