P9 Nonaro by Azucena

P9 Nonaro Azucena
Designer Luigi Caccia Dominioni
Year 1962
Architonic id 1081339

Inspired by old-fashioned garden chairs, today one of Azucena's "classics", the Nonaro was first shown before the large preparatory panel for the Scuola di Atene by Raffaello, when the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana was set up in 1962, designed by Caccia Dominioni. The steel mesh, hand-stitched and not welded onto the back and seat structure, the slender curved arms, the "voids" of the base underline the discretion of a presence that hides nothing. These sofas, with red velvet mohair cushions, have for many years been an invitation to spend a moment in restful contemplation. Over the years the Nonaro has appeared in dignified or minimalist interiors, conserving the nobility of its origins, or has returned outdoors, in gardens, porticoes, terraces, in the two-or three-seater version, armchair or stool.
