Normann Copenhagen has now added a leather version to the popular Onkel range of sofas. The Onkel combines the simplicity of modern design together with the soft curves of the middle of the century. The sofa's outer shell has a stringent feel, whilst the cushions are comfortable and inviting. The attractive, soft leather gives the Onkel sofa a new dimension of classic, understated elegance.

The leather for the Onkel sofa has been carefully selected by Normann Copenhagen to ensure a durable result and a comfortable sitting experience. The exclusive material is practical and has a resistant finish, which is easy to maintain.

The Onkel sofa consists of an upholstered frame and subsequently added cushions. The inspiration for the cushions was drawn from the more bombastic, upholstered sofas of the pre-1950's era. The back cushion has been elegantly encapsulated in the frame to accentuate the union of two very different modes of expression. The materials used for the frame and cushions have been kept in the same shades of colour and there is a matching colour-lacquered under-frame. This gives simplicity to the design and makes Onkel stand as a unified whole.

Simon Legald says:” As a designer I am curious as to how the materials work together with the concept. Onkel is a sofa that has emerged out of a dialogue between craftsmanship and industry. With Onkel, I have utilized old craftsmanship techniques and used them in a new context. In this way the details give Onkel personality.”

Onkel has a recognisable, Scandinavian design and is available in 2 and 3 seat versions. It is available in black or cognac-coloured leather as well as light grey, dark grey, purple and blue textile.
