Nielaus 290 Chair

Chairs from Nielaus, Designed by Steen Østergaard

Product description

Concept

The iconic cantilever chair designed in 1966 by Steen Ostergaard now returns in an updated version. Simple and elegant, with an independent form that loses nothing of its charm even 46 years down the line.
1966 was a year full of new ideas, bubbling creativity and wide horizons. In that same year, Steen Ostergaard developed and designed this outstanding piece of furniture. Nielaus 290 was the first ever cantilever chair in the world that was injection-moulded in one single operation. This also required the largest piece of moulding-tool ever made for injection of nylon at that time.
The Nielaus 290 chair made of polyamid (nylon) reinforced with fibre-glass, is fully-depth coloured and injection-moulded in one single operation. The chair has a silky gloss, is stackable, antistatic and cannot delaminate. It can be used indoors and outdoors. The chair is available in a number of colours. It is delivered with or without the upholstered seat cushion of polyether on laminated beech in a wide range of textiles and leather.
