George Nelson was fascinated with all things Japanese, and that influence is clear in his 1952 design of Nelson miniature chests. Reminiscent of tansu (traditional Japanese cabinetry), these striking, collectible chests made of teak store all kinds of things. Offered in a variety of sizes and drawer configurations, they add artistic interest and a touch of history--as well as practical function--to the home or office.
Good Wood
Teak construction. True to the original; environmentally friendly rosewood stain replaces the original rosewood drawer fronts.
Hand-fitted drawers. Ensures proper alignment so that wood-on-wood glides work smoothly.
Jewelry drawer. Each model has a drawer with dividers to organize and store small items.
Design Choices
Six drawers. Arranged vertically or in two rows of three; white laminate top.
Nine drawers. Arranged vertically.
With metal base. Four-star, painted white, and fitted with adjustable glides.
Without base. Rests on 3/8-inch brass glides.
