Modern is inspired by a pure geometric form: the square.
And by a simple idea: its movement in space. A module that repeats itself, developing objects that differ in materials, colours and functional destinations. Objects that differ - containers, tops, shelves - but have harmonic proportions and formal coherence.
In this way an open, articulated and flexible programme is born. It is devised for designing spaces through clear, elegant signs, defined by the rigour of the lines, by the fine finishes, and by design quality. This system provides maximum freedom for creating the ideal combination of elements. A presence that knows how to adapt to all rooms.
In 2008 Modern is completed by new solutions conceived specifically for contemporary living areas, more and more characterised by numerous technological appliances. Aesthetic research and technological functionality are merged in the composition that combines a base unit with folding doors - ideal for putting DVD reader, VCR or decoder - with a wall container with its own sliding door to hide the television when not in use.
For Material House, the collection conceived by Piero Lissoni re-interpreting the most significant products in the Porro catalogue with manual interventions, its modular articulation becomes an interplay of forms and primary colours, which contrasts a wall unit structure made of solid untreated hemlock with hand-painted doors. Hanging on the wall, it is transformed into a real three-dimensional sculpture, halfway between a Pop Art work and an out-of-scale Lego construction.
The contrast between lacquering and precious natural hemlock wood also characterises a Modern floor composition, alternating a lacquered white dais with solid wood open modules.
