Missing Thread by Kvadrat
These eight diverse, white curtains vary from quite transparent to approaching opaque. Missing Thread is designed by Swede Åsa Pärson, whose approach to textile design is to retain only the essentials.
The inspiration for Missing Thread came to Åsa Pärson when she worked at a silk weaving mill in Laos. She experimented with the effect of pulling the thread out of a sheet and then continued to work on the style it created. Using this theme, Åsa Pärson has developed four designs that all have visible stripes on a transparent background or transparent stripes on a solid background. Each design comes in a positive and a negative version, making a total of eight curtains.
The stripes range from sewing-thread thin lines with wide interspaces to wide stripes whose transparent part has an Ikat-style effect with very dense, fine stripes. Despite the diversity, the theme is clearly echoed in all eight curtains, which complement each other perfectly.
Missing Thread perfectly offsets curtains with a heavier style or bright colours, but its transparent elegance also works well on its own.
