Missing Thread by Kvadrat
Åsa Pärson has designed two curtains under the name of M/T Colour. They are based on the Missing Thread collection, which she designed for Kvadrat in 2007.
M/T Colour provides the most transparent and opaque curtains of the Missing Thread collection. They work well individually or alongside heavier styles. The colours vary from light grey and sand to dusty shades of lavender, yellow, blue and orange. The inspiration for Missing Thread came to Åsa Pärson when working at a silk weaving mill in Laos. She experimented with the effect of pulling the thread out of a sheet and then continued to work on the style it created. Using this theme, Åsa Pärson has developed designs that show visible stripes on a transparent background or transparent stripes on a solid background. Swedish Åsa Pärson is a graduate of the Swedish School of Textiles and the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design where, inspired by an interest in Persian and Oriental rugs, she studied weaving. She has since travelled extensively in Asia where she studied craft techniques and worked on developing silk textiles.
Her textiles reflect the theme of only letting the essentials remain. To that end, she prefers fixed structures with clean, simple and timeless styling and seeks to highlight the natural patterns in material. Åsa Pärson has exhibited in Sweden, France, England and Japan and has received several grants and awards.
