LC13 Wagon Fumoir of Cassina

The design of this model was done by Le Corbusier in 1931 for the smoking carriages of the French railways. In this piece of furniture, too, in confirmation of the validity of the support/supported system, there are highly expressive meanings deriving from the same Le Corbusier mould. Unlike those of the LC2 and LC3, the upholstered elements, seat and back, are not fastened down to the support structure. It is a new link-up device revealing a readiness to cater for variable postures and benefits from an elastic oscillating back, as indicated on the Maestro’s original drawings.
