An icon of modern rationalism, now equally at home outdoors: evocatively effective by the pool, on the open
decks of a yacht and in any open air space. This extension of functionality is consistent with the
contemplation of nature and the interaction with open spaces that is a feature of all of Le Corbusier’s
work, from ribbon windows to the use of pilotis and roof gardens.
The structure is made entirely from polished chrome-effect brushed INOX steel with special corrosion
resistance properties strengthened by high silver content welding. The feet are in PVC.
Similar attention is focused on the upholstery. The specialised PVC-coated high-durability polyester
fabric guarantees excellent colour fastness and resistance to water, oil-based substances and UV rays.
The tailoring is designed to perfectly replicate the leather upholstery of the indoor model.
The ISO 9001 certified fabric, available in five different colours, is stretched over the structure using
specially designed polished stainless steel springs.
Every armchair comes with a protective water repellent cover for use during the winter season.

Here the seat and
backrest are in a natural coloured raw canvas with a profile in natural leather. The same material and trim is
also found on the tapered armrests. Reference to the colonial armchair, of which the LC1 represents the
natural evolution, is evident; confirmation of Le Corbusier’s almost Darwinian concept that the ideal piece of
furniture is the result of a long selection process over time. A fascinating journey in which forms respond
with increasingly immediacy to real requirements.

In this case, as evidenced in Perriand’s original sketches and notes, the LC1
seat is adorned with a blue satin weave and further embellished by its comfortable padding. A satin weave is
also chosen for the gently tapered armrests, except towards the front where leather is used to guarantee
stability against the chrome-plated frame. An elegant interpretation in which the minimalism of the armchair
is softened and given a gentler, more feminine feel.
