In accordance with the French law, a public building must be equipped to protect people who are not capable to evacuate in the event of a fire or other emergencies. Along with the architectural design requirements of secure waiting spaces and practicable routes leading to these spaces and exits, the communication design requirements of directions and procedures of evacuation must also adapt to meet these new requirements for various types of individuals with handicaps.

In response to these requirements, Marcal launches the Kourouma product range, communicating the locations of gathering points that are accessible to people with reduced mobility along with the indications of emergency exits in relation to these secure waiting spaces. 
In addition to their function the information plates are luminescent making them easily identifiable in subdued lighting situations.
