Product description

Elephant – Dimensions cm 21H x 24L

Concept

After the long and fruitful collaboration between Bitossi Ceramiche and Karim Rashid in this 2015 it comes the collection Kiva. Kiva is a feminine name belonging to the jewush culture meaning “shelter” and “protection”.
This collection is thus for Rashid a sort of reinterpretation and tribute to masters who, going back to his cretaive path, inspired his creative genius, such as Ettore Sottsass, Piero Fornasetti e Aldo Londi, art director of Bitossi for more than 30 years.
Rashid deepened his knowledge of these design masters through his deep relationship with Bitossi Ceramiche and by getting dee pinto the ceramic tradition that this brand still represents and nowadays he wants to pay a tribute to the collections that more than others embody the character of Bitossi and the work of Londi, Rimini Blu. Kiva is like an extension of Rimini Blu and shares signs and symbols with Londi, as a sort of metalanguage of the material. The 4 zoomorphical subjects are sculptural and evocative, but minimal at the same time: they represent the Bird, the Bull, the Elephant and the Bear
