K System: Technology and beauty in a single stroke
A profile draws the form of this table with a single stroke. Simplicity is the key to Permasa’s new design: an extraordinarily solid table, thanks to a sculptural system of tension rods, with a profile-structure which runs the length of its perimeter and envelopes the work surface. It is an architectural gesture reminiscent of the aesthetics of cranes and bridges and can support considerable weight on just a few legs. The result?: Lightness and elegance: a director’s table or a shared workbench, in variable widths up to 4.80 m long with only two support points. Magic? No, it is all made possible by the tension rods in the shape of a K, which have given the name to the new system. The base on which the system rests has already been tried and tested: originally designed for the successful Oikos programme, it has been updated and lightened. But the tension rods are what really set the tables free to take another route. At Permasa we use the transparent table top a lot, in order to show off the sculptural quality of the tension rod. But tops are also available in natural wood or melamine. The structure, in white or graphite, takes accessories specially designed for this series. The future? K System shelving: a light but solid, elegant and hardwearing bookcase to complete our range for elegant offices with an architectural feel.
