Product description

This chair was first displayed at Stockholm Furniture Fair in February, 2010. The design resembles that of typical Japanese bamboo basketware in terms of its stable appearance. Its soft rounded shape will make you feel nostalgic. A traditional upholstery technique is used in the seat area that contains 13 coil springs. The main body is hand-sewn.

Concept

Jun Kamahara(1950- )
Jun Kamahara was born in 1950 and currently lives in Fukuoka.
In 1987, he established Kamaharajun Design office for design of solid objects.
He started to design chairs and other types of furniture in 1987, when he created for New York IDCNY designers' Saturday a work called "A-Chair" which was made from cast aluminum, a material that can be freely formed.
The chair received the Design of the Year Award. He stopped furniture design later, and engaged instead in activities including architectural design, interior design, color planning, bridge design and presentations. In 2000, He resumed furniture making, and in 2009, he co-developed new products for Kitani.
