Reinterpreting a classic with a rational and contemporary approach, combining rigor and elegance to reach a design quality that provides timeless experiences. This has been the ambitious challenge taken up by Snaidero with the restyling of model IDEA, the first example of handle-free kitchen. Born in 1972, Idea immediately stands out as an elegant design, thanks to its clean lines and the balance of volumes.

Back in the 80’s, architect Michele Sbrogiò, awarded with prize “Compasso d’Oro” in 1987, performs the first restyling of the project by introducing some pioneering technical and design solutions, such as the self-supporting wall panels hanging both base and wall units, thus conveying the idea of floating cabinets and living environment.

In the year 2000 Snaidero asked the Pininfarina Design Center to proceed with the second restyling.
Thanks to the highly skilled elegance of its sign, Pininfarina managed to bring new freshness and refinement, to perpetuate the flexibility of the model, and to enhance the style of a great classic.
In 2012 Snaidero presents with Pininfarina a brand new interpretation of IDEA. More pure, more rigorous, more technological. Up to date.

IDEA 40 is a charming combination of design, efficiency and superb materials, an uncompromised balance of shape and technology.
It represents a new form of minimalism aiming to keep the object clean from any element which may deflect attention from the main point. Colors, shapes, lines and structures are minimalised. A message of coherence, austerity, simplicity and aesthetic purism.

Idea 40 “smoothens” the minimal look by using materials and surface treatments which communicate emotions and visual sensations.

Elegance and clear contrasts in volumes, materials and colors still persist as basic features of the project. They convey that sense of long-lasting solidity and the idea of a simple, yet distinguished and contemporary style.
The wide flexibility of design is confirmed and in fact improved, thanks to its important, rational and highly detailed volumes that can be freely used according to each one’s design wishes and functional needs.

The 45° beveled door’s edge matches and follows the profile of the worktop, extending the concept of rigorous yet sophisticated design to the whole. The channel, recess-fitted on the carcasse, runs through the kitchen, showing an extraordinary care for details.
Technology is still “easy”, concealed into small details such as the integrated light on the boiserie and under the wall units, performed by led continuous lights which provide a perfect lighting on the work areas.
Light plays an important role in this project: technological, functional, hidden although always available, it can also be provided in the upper shelf framing the kitchen: the continuous light bar, in this case, is recessed in the lower side of a shelf which has the same finish as the door.

Clear yet sophisticated chromatic contrasts bring a new contemporary look to the project. Without excesses, in an extremely modern balance of shapes and technology.
With Idea 40, Snaidero reinvigorates the high glossy metallized lacquers. This technology was first developed in Snaidero in the 90’s, thanks to the collaboration with the Pininfarina Group, which took it from the automobile sector. In Idea 40, this manufacturing process is further improved by using a metallized varnish enriched with very thin metal flakes which contribute to the highly precious, yet discreet, surface beauty.

Bicolor, in its “black&white” effect, is a decisive growing trend. In Idea 40 it stands for a safe and exclusive choice as it reminds of a “taylor made” product : excellent and for some élite almost.
Snaidero brings this suggestion back with Idea 40, creating an extremely flexible, chic and elegant style, meeting all the different needs and expectations. To answer to the increasing demand of aesthetic personalization of today’s consumers, Snaidero is willing to provide new performing industrial processes.

The bicolor effect of the composition matches perfectly with the other outstanding element: the lowered area of the worktop, on both the wall lay-out and the central island: the latter features a basin to contain aromatic herbs. The artificial light based on LED technology, integrated in the island configuration, allows the plants to grow even without the sunrays.
