Eolo of Rotaliana

Light and wellbeing is one of the themes that Rotaliana has developed in its new range of multifunctional products. Finding a new relationship between light and wellbeing speaks directly to our need to feel safe and secure; in harmony with the spaces we construct, and Eolo is the fruit of this research. Designed by Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda, it brings together chromatic light with a room spray. In this small lamp, perfect for both the home and more public spaces, olfactory and visual senses are combined: aromatherapy now comes with chromotherapy. Light and fragrance – two intangible decorative elements – create a new relationship between our environment and state of mind. Fragrances positively affect our mood and chromatic light changes our perception of reality and in so doing, changes our emotional perception of the space in which we find ourselves.

The motivation for Eolo was to find a way to heighten our comfort levels in both domestic spaces and public ones (nursery schools, schools, hospitals and hotels); personalising and improving (in both biological and cultural terms) the quality of the environment in which it is used.

Our love of natural light (which inextricably links light with energy: illuminating energy with spiritual energy) has always invested the sun’s light with great therapeutic powers. Daylight has always been associated with physical activity and logical thought. Twilight and half-light with sexuality/passion and dreams.
Eolo’s ability to change the quality of its light, beautifully mimics natural light where, with the passing of hours and seasons, it changes intensity, colour and direction. So comfort and wellbeing leave behind the realms of the purely ‘natural’ to become something that is controlled by technology. Sometimes energising, sometimes relaxing; for reflection or as background; in our home or in our office, Eolo enhances our wellbeing no matter where it’s placed. It’s small piece of anthropomorphic and domestic technology, in which its cuboid body inclines to give direction to its light. The body itself is cut into fine strips which form a face gently blowing scent into space. Its RGB LED light creates the perfect colour to suit your mood. It uses an energy saving bulb and its remote control means allows you to have the colour, light intensity and fragrance even from a distance.

Eolo sprays your space with the aroma of your choice: citrus, spice ... by means of a small fan. Aromas are supplied in solid form by Oikos Frangrances so that they can be released into the atmosphere through simple ventilation, without smoke or solvents. The fan allows you to programme and spray your chosen fragrance, in both small and large quantities. Just as Aeolus, the mythical God of Winds, blew - sometimes with great force and at other times with great delicacy - Eolo’s fan can release an energising gust or a light, perfumed breeze that heralds the arrival of Spring.

The range of aromas available create an olfactory map. Your choice of the sweet, pungent Citrus and Cinnamon; will refresh any living room; Violet will bring relaxation to your bedroom and help you sleep. Vanilla is perfect in rooms for children and other aromas perfectly capture the feeling of intimacy and cleanliness we desire from our bathroom.
