Embla is a single colour epinglé with a soft and lively towelling like surface consisting of small loops which are woven into the base fabric. The epinglé binding means that Embla, in contrast to many of the velour and cotton textures in the FANNYARONSEN collection, has more structure and thereby a slightly more edgy look. This offers good opportunities to create beautiful contrasts when the piece is combined with smoother textures; e.g. Seamunds Dream or Håkon, which are soft, shiny mohair pieces.

One of the bedrock characteristics in Fanny Aronsen’s design is her work in identifying and combining textures and colours, with a view to achieving the best way of creating connections between all the designs in the collection. Embla is available in 29 colourways and the colour scale ranges from a reserved beige to a vibrant fuchsia. The piece, therefore, functions perfectly as a ’foundation’, or base feature for patterned textures because its colours recur in these; but it can also stand out beautifully on its own in all its simplicity.

According to Nordic mythology, Embla and Ask were the first people to inhabit the earth.
