Designer Tine Mouritsen, Mia Sinding
Year 2004
Architonic id 1010275

Scala is an idea of adding textural effect and humour to the current office and conference settings. The main purpose is to provide the user with excellent comfort. The basic chair was intended as a stationary chair to which you could add tilt function, headrest, toe recess and arm rests. The forte of the chair is the adjustable seat height.
A simple knob mounted in the seat makes it possible to change the function of the chair from “sit up ”position into “rest ” position at any time.
Scala is a full-upholstered chair covered in strong textiles. Seat and back consist of an inner side with cold cured polyurethane foam.
Scala is suitable for a variety of purposes as f.ex. lounge chair, for meeting rooms or for the office. Linked together in rows the chair is perfect for arrangements at museums or lecture halls.
Tine Mouritsen MAA has graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Mia Sinding MDD from the Danish School of Arts and Design. They have worked together as a professional team since 2002.
Scala was the winner of the Erik Jørgensen Design Award 2003.
