Architonic id 1029391

The narrow armrests and relatively low height give Erik Jørgensen’s EJ 220 a light, soft and casual appearance. The big voluminous cushions signal abundance, comfort and a feeling of hominess. One of the challenges that preoccupied Erik Jørgensen in the late 1960s was how to redefine the design of sofas and turn the popular living room piece of furniture into an aesthetic visual experience with a high level of comfort. The result of Erik Jørgensen’s contemplations was the box sofa EJ 220, which was intro-duced in 1970 and has since founded a school for how sofas are designed in Denmark.
