An object with immediate appeal, like the Disney character Dewey that inspired its name, this lamp has a thick base like a large duck’s foot. Both playful and functional, Duii was created like a builder toy that could easily be taken apart and put together. The adjustable arm, made up of four metal elements held together by butterfly screws, is joined exactly like a piece of a “Meccano” set, the famous model construction system. The pressed glass and metal diffuser were inspired by the iconic shape of the headlights of classic cars. However, one can also see a worker’s helmet or even the punk overtones of a shaved head with a Mohawk, like the Mohican that is Diesel’s traditional symbol with its punk, rebellious personality.
The light is direct and focussed on the surface on which the lamp rests. It is ideal in a home with a youthful style, on a table, consol or bedside table. The base also acts as a handy place to put paperclips or other small objects. Duii’s strong personality stands out in its two exclusive colours: yellow, for a Working Class style, and grey, which emphasizes its industrial roots. Both have the unmistakeable Diesel with Foscarini style.
