Dot

Parasols from Sywawa, Designed by Bart van Heesch

Product description

Concept

Bart van Heesch ( Amsterdam, the Netherlands) created for Sywawa the Dot, a sunshade that plays with the sun. General Manager Pierre Christiaens: “Dot changes its looks continuously as the sun is moving in the sky.”

The umbrella shows 2 different layers of fabric in 2 different colors. A contrasting pattern of round holes has been cut out of the fabric by laser. The effect is amazing. Sitting under the sunshade, you can see the color of the lower layer of the fabric and at the same time you will be able to observe the colour of the upper layer of cloth. When the sun is throwing patches of light through the holes of the upper layer, a third colour is being created in the lower layer. All this makes the pattern complete. As the position of the sun is moving from east to west during the day, the pattern of holes is moving slowly as long as there is daylight. The contrasting design and the 2 layers of cloth create an animated and colorful lightshow.

The Dot is available in 3 standard color combinations : blue/yellow, pink/blue and yellow/pink. A special edtion “Knokke” with a pink/white color combination was created for a well known square in trendy seaside resort Knokke (Belgium).
