Daisy Coral

Daisy was a celebration of Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg’s 20- year anniversary as Chief Designer at Kasthall. During 2007, Kasthall gave Gunilla the task to create an “anniversary rug” to mark this milestone, and the result is the multi-coloured, patterned long-pile rug that is Daisy. As the name reveals, the inspiration for Daisy comes mainly from the world of flowers, which, besides design, is Gunilla’s main interest in life. Modern interpretations of floral patterns are one of Gunilla’s specialities and can often be found in her designs. Another source of inspiration for this particular rug stems from Gunilla’s porcelain cups from the 50’s and 60’s. Gunilla is fascinated by how pattern repeats were used to create the porcelain of that era, and for Daisy, a cup with a floral pattern sparked the design process which turned a cup into a rug! Daisy’s colour scheme - like its pattern - was also very typical of Gunilla’s design expression, and feels both fresh and earthy at the same time.
