Cubo White

Table lights from boops lighting, Designed by Aldo van den Nieuwelaar

Product description

Concept

The original design from 1968, circle and square, in perfect proportion. In 1968 Aldo van den Nieuwelaar designed a series of innovative TL lighting objects in bent steel tubes executed in white and chrome. A Classic Design applying present-day energy efficient techniques by using a steepless dimmer instead of a two-way switch.

Aldo van den Nieuwelaar (1944 - 2010) the master of Geometric Minimalism, designs the Cubo after
designing his Circle lamp. He was inspired by Gerrit Rietveld, the Bauhaus from the beginning of the 20th century and the Minimal Art from the sixties. Beautiful was not a word that appeared in Aldo’s vocabulary. His biggest praise: “This is very well thought-out” The table lamp Cubo is again a circle with a cube. It is now in production with present-day technique !

The lightsourse has a life-span of 16.000 hours and is executed in the warm color 827 (2700 Kelvin) In 1980 Aldo van den Nieuwelaar was distinguished with the ASID award (American Association of Interior Designers) and in 1986 he was decorated with the Kho Liang 1st prize. His designs are part of the permanent collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Boijmans
van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York.
