CLICLOUNGER glass

In CLICFURNITURE Basel PeLi translated the ideas of the modernists into the digital age. The CLICFURNITURE Basel, consisting of a limited edition of an upholstered CLICLOUNGER and an ottoman “CLICOTTO”, was has been especially created for the Design/Basel show in 2009. The CLICFURNITURE Basel is craftsmanship of the digital age - uniting pure function with material beauty.

The connection of wood (European cherry), glass (Pilkington extra Clear) and the FOGLIZZO leather upholstery (best known from FERRARI interiors) became only possible by working together with expert craftsmen and by pushing the limits of advanced production techniques (CNC diamond milling).

In a world where most products are mere sleek and shiny surfaces it became a necessity for PeLi to recollect himself to the humbleness of craftsmanship. In CLICFURNITURE made from wood and glass,the designer shows the power of what he calls
‘digital craftsmanship’. Using everything that is technically possible and combining that with skilful handwork opened up new horizons to create exciting products. To design a lounge chair and a fitting table was logical for PeLi - while lounging and enjoying your leisure time these products tell their story best.

The CLICFURNITURE Basel is a limited edition of 8 lounge chairs and 8 Ottomans. The CLICFURNITURE Basel has been shown for the first time at Design/Miami 2008. The production has been made possible through the help of the craftspeople of Van Dijken Glas, Waddinxveen, the Netherlands and Foglizzo fine leather, Italy.
