Concept

The CHURCH CHAIR was originally designed by Kaare Klint for the Grundtvig Church in Copenhagen. His famous architect father, P.V. Jensen-Klint, was responsible for the construction of this church.

The CHURCH CHAIR is a challenge for any skilled carpenter. There are no right angles on the CHURCH CHAIR and it requires high accuracy in all manufacturing processes. All four pieces on the back of the chair have different angels in order to suit the human spine, and the seat is made of envelope woven paper cordel, treated with soap and wax to make it stay resistant.

A design icon from generations ago for generations to come.
