Chantilly (whipped cream and cream) has two components: one soft and tender and the other more sustained by a rigid inner frame that rises to a flat leather-clad top, underlining the soft shape. The satin covering is deliberately loose fitting. It flounces and cascades, soft and inviting, its folds highlighting the fabric’s sheen. The high back and the circular shape of this settee remind the 19th century models: but Chantilly is the epitome of softness and sensuality.
