CH438 was designed by Wegner for use as a dining chair in Copenhagen’s Kastrup Airport in the late 1950’s – and is clearly one of the darlings of Carl Hansen & Son’s managing director, Knud Erik Hansen.
“We are thrilled to be able to reintroduce this upholstered chair,” says Knud Erik Hansen. “There’s no denying that the chair shares its design heritage with one of Wegner’s best easy chairs, also known as the Kastrup chair. It was designed at the same time, and it is just as comfortable. But this chair is made for the table. Its lines are more sleek, it is more narrow and it is of course higher. We expect the new chair to do well in both the home and contract markets.”
